Zune to launch in October

A story on BetaNews is claiming that the Zune might actually launch in October! That's like only 3 months away! They also mention some other project names apart from the Argo and Zune which we already know about: Pyxis (we thought it was Pixas) and Alexandria.

The Zune is to take on the iPod, with the Pyxis (codename) to take on the Nano size and functionality-wise, and will also support video. There is no news of a third device for portable gaming, but then that might only be a software upgrade away...

The new name to us "Alexandria" is supposedly the service that will feed these devices; it won't be Urge, but it will be Urge like.

Public demos and announcements look likely to happen in the last week of August, continuing through September, with product expected in October. That's a tight deadline!
