Okay, not really naked, but still in the wild. And naked makes it sound so much hotter. Yes, the interface is as beautiful as it appears in my dreams nightly. Hey Jason Chen, take your damn Zune and shove it. Stiletto fo' life! (Now if only they would hurry up and ship me my unit). – Travis Hudson

The word "Zune" is no longer exclusively in the domain of the nerd as Microsoft has started plastering New York City with ads of its portable media player that's poised to solve all of the world's problems. Do we learn anything new from the ads? No, sir, but we do get yet another confirmation on the release date: November 14 (for $249.99, natch). We're also told that Zune is the way music wants to be—that is to say, Windows-only and purchased with Microsoft points. Can't wait for my music to be set free, Microsoft! – Nicholas Deleon

So throughout this whole Zune launch thing the whole lot of us have been playing cat and mouse with Microsoft on the finer points. Will it or won't it be built on PlaysForSure or some variant? How will it recognize copyrighted vs. creative commons content without opening up piracy loopholes? And perhaps most importantly: how will the wireless work? Well, it turns out that a Zune employee by the name of David Caulton thought it'd be worth putting together a cogent explanation of what the Zune wireless connection can and can't do.
You can:
Can search for and find other Zunes nearby.
Can send songs / albums for the 3 x 3 trial. Songs past the three days / listens are deleted at next sync, but catalogued on your PC for record-keeping should you want to purchase them later. No word on whether Microsoft is going to keep track of which files are traded.
You can send and receive image files for "unlimit...

Jake Luddington puts his iPod next to a Zune at some Canadian Tech Fest and finds the Zune a little bit bigger in all regards. We knew the Zune was somewhat big from the spec sheets. But nothing quite spells out "fat lard butt" better than putting the chubby new kid next to the popular kid. Especially after meatloaf day in the cafeteria. More photos after the jump.–Brian Lam

Took a while, but pictures have been uploaded showing a real Zune against a real iPod (no more 3d comparisons) The pictures give a much better comparison from all angles of the Zune against the iPod. Clearly the Zune is bigger, but then again most iPod have those skins/covers on to not let the surface [...]

We're kind of surprised it took this long to get the two of 'em side by side, but here they are. The Zune is, of course larger, but it's kinda weird how much more exaggerated those size differences are when you're really eyeing the extremely-curved corners of the iPod. Ok, we're done, go ahead, get it all out.

I received several banners for the site. Very cool stuff. It was hard to pick a winner, but in the end I decided to pick James from DAPularity. James, the poster is on its way. For everyone who participated, I've got a Zune sticker with your name on it. Send me your mailing address and I'll get it off to you. Not to late to send them in either. I'm thinking of rotating them every few weeks or so.

Ranger asked me a couple of days ago why no one had ever seen the backside of the Zune player. It is a good question. So, instead of posting one photo, how about an entire crate of them.
