I'm really bad at Halo. But I can see all the Halo-themed videos, photos, and songs on the Special Edition Zune going a long way towards making this Zune pantsworthy for the fanboys.
Here's a 135 shot gallery of all the artwork (photographed, not ripped, out of respect for the Zune team's hard work.) Click to the thumbnail view to see them all at bird's eye perspective.

You already saw the Halo 3 edition Zune last Friday, but here's the actual box. Noah was right: This thing is a work of art.
Photos of the exclusive Halo 3 content to come in a few minutes.

Fans of the special edition Halo 3 Zune can head over to EBGames or Gamestop (they're the same thing) and pre-order one for the release on June 15.
If pre-ordering this is anything like pre-ordering anything else at EB, you'll hand them five bucks and they'll try and get you to pre-order the Halo 3 Zune Strategy Guide as well. – Jason Chen

var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/gadgets/Zune_Halo_3_Edition_up_for_pre_order'; Oh yes it is. That special edition Halo 3 Zune is real, out, and up for pre-order exclusively through GameStop. Available June 15th (pre-order now), the $249 promotional Zune comes packin' a 30GB disk packed with a flood of Halorific music, video and artwork. Although you've made your thoughts about Microsoft's would-be iPod killer abundantly clear, the tie-in with the hotly anticipated September 25th release of Halo 3 by Bungie Studio (owned by Microsoft) could generate some renewed Zune-buzz all but lost since its initial launch. Welcome to the Social Covenant kids.
[Thanks, Russell D. and everyone who sent this in]

In our last post about the Halo Zune we showed some pics from New York press even but had no word on if this will be out as a retail version of the Zune. Well it has been confirmed that these Halo themed Zunes are going to be on sale at EB/Gamestop stores. The details [...]

The fact that you all voted the Zune "Worst Gadget of the Year" in the recent Engadget Awards doesn't seem to be causing any hand-wringing in Redmond, as Microsoft confirmed today that they're building a dedicated Zune factory in China with an unnamed parter to crank out the oft-rumored next-gen Zune. It looks like Toshiba's not going to be involved this time around, as Zune marketing director Jason Reindorp has been quoted as saying that the rush to get the original Zune to market "forced us to take a look around at what was on the shelf...and get it out there," while this time they're interested in "the flexibility and control we have in creating a device from scratch." Ouch. Sorry, Tosh. Reindorp mentioned that the new manufacturing partner is someone MS is "very familiar with," and the new plant is located in the same city as the Flextronics plant that builds the Xbox 360 for Bill and Co., although nothing's been confirmed. For what i...

We're a little hesitant to call a Zune that has a tiny little Halo 3 decal on the front a "new Zune," and therefore we're assuming that isn't, by some sort of cosmic corporate joke, the Zune update that we've all been expecting. Nevertheless, this is definitely going to be of some interest to the Halo addicts out there (the same kind of addicts that are looking at the $130 Halo 3 Legendary Edition with anticipation). There's no word on whether this special edition Zune will ever get a commercial release -- as far as we know it was just a one-off for a recent Halo 3 event in New York -- but we won't be waiting around for it. We'll be busy losing at Halo 3.
