Here it is, the Sizemodo you've been waiting six months to see. The iPhone vs. other music devices (iPod, Zune) and smartphones (AT&T 8525, Helio Ocean, Sprint Mogul). Which one's the smallest and thinnest, and which one looks dirtier after months of use? Which do you think?

digg_url = 'http://digg.com/apple/iPhone_headphones_Most_3rd_party_don_t_work'; As several tipsters have pointed out, the recessed iPhone headphone port means that a lot of third party headphones don't work properly: we've tested a few models already (you can see the current list after the break), but maybe you can help us out and let us know which models work / don't work in the comments -- and yes, if you have to press down on the jack to get both channels to play sound, we count that as not working. You'll need to buy a $19 "TTY Adapter" if you want most third party headphones to function correctly, which sounds like a great business plan to us: just break an important device function, and sell the solution for fun and profit. For now, one of the few third party 'phones that do work are the Zune headphones.

var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/apple/iPhone_pottymouth_friendly'; Steve must have been a sailor in a former life, because it's been a while since we've seen a phone dictionary come preloaded with so many US swears. The iPhone even supports multiple forms of the mother of all curses -- truly, a versatile word for a versatile phone. Now go wash your mouth out with soap, mister.

According to a super-secret, top level official inside Microsoft's megaplexing-hyper-bunker in Redmond, the Zuneinites are readying an 80GB Zune 2.0 called the "Scorpio", which will be a companion to the also-rumored 4GB or 8GB flash-based "Draco". The rumor additionally proffers that production on the Scorpio will begin towards the end of July, although we can't recommend any fancy breath holding. The diabolical naming convention apparently stems from the original Zune codename "Argo" and its WiFi component, called "Pyxis." Regardless, if Microsoft was trying to make their products sound less Satanic, it isn't working.

Zune fanatics, keep your eyes wide open as July approaches. Word on the web is that Microsoft is getting ready to roll out an 80GB model of the Zune, codenamed Scorpio. Precious little information is currently available, but it seems that Microsoft is gearing up for a holiday release. Whether or not Europe will get the Scorpio just as fast as America, or, at this rate, as fast as they get the original Zune has yet to be seen.

It's not an entry proper in our Battlemodo iPod Dock Bracket, but it's a worthy contender nonetheless. It's an iPod Dock with two bookshelf-quality speakers, which can take in audio input from the iPod, a USB connection or line in (a Zune). It even has a separate wireless iPod dock that can stream music from up to 100 feet away. It essentially lets you use your iPod as a remote for itself, because it doesn't have to sit across the room inside the dock.
After adjusting the bass level with the Mondo Mint Audio Control suite over USB (it comes set really bass heavy) the Mint sounded pretty darn good. Since we don't have the 100 docks Mark has to compare it to, we'd have to say the audio quality (even when streaming over wireless) was good enough to compare to a decent set of bookshelf speakers. It does have a nice remote, though.
The Mint definitely looks classy—as classy as an iPod dock can look. The buttons on the front of both docks aren't flimsy, and ...

You know those two guys waiting in line for the iPhone a whole 100 hours early? We've got an exclusive non-interview with them. And this guy is totally not what Apple expected when it envisioned the perfect customer for the iPhone. Hell, even our #1 Zune Fan seems friendly compared to this grizzly.
Fake Steve is going to cry this is a Microsoft plant. But, look at it this way: he's a living, breathing, sweating indicator that Apple's iPhone really does appeal to the masses, and is ready for more love from the mainstream. Hey, you can't sell 10 million phones by catering only to beautiful technocrats.
Oh and readers, can you help identify these two men? Do you know them? If you do, email us.

Idolator, our sister site that likes music (on iPods or not), had a visit in the comments from none other than Zune Tattoo Fan #1, who explained: I am the Zune tattoo guy, Steven Smith, I would like to be able to put my 2 cents in an explain my 1st and 2nd zune tattoo as well as my 3rd tattoo I will be getting. As far as what Microsoft is doing for me, it isn't important, I did not get either tattoo to be rewarded later. But for your info I am being flown out to Redmond, Washington to have a meet and greet with the Zune Team, and to do an interview for [www.on10.net] so I think that more than makes up for my $80 tattoo. Also, I know I am fat:)
Steven, you sound like a nice guy, not one of those scary cultists that shake their fists at product announcements like book burners and get tattoos on their...wait.
Steven, I respect your dedication to both Zune and to Pepperoni Pizza, and your honesty about the whole thing. Just to let you know, whenever Engadget scoops me, I eat a...

The man so devoted to all things Zune that he got not one but two Zune tattoos looks to have finally drawn the attention of Microsoft itself, which has decided to fly its biggest fan out to Redmond and give him the star treatment. In a post on the Zune Scene message boards, "mszunefan" says that he'll be making the trip on July 5th, during which he'll do an interview for Microsoft's Channel 10 and then meet his heroes: a no doubt slightly unnerved Zune team. We have to say we're kinda glad that Microsoft stepped in when it did, there's no telling where the next tattoo might have ended up.
